Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Executive to drive our creative slate and content acquisition strategy. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in developing successful film and television projects across multiple genres, with particular expertise in animation. This role will be instrumental in identifying, acquiring, and developing compelling IP that can leverage our unique GenAI capabilities while maintaining the highest standards of storytelling. You will work directly with the executive team to shape Promise's content portfolio and build relationships with top-tier talent and creative partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Development & Acquisition

   • Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of high-potential IP across multiple genres

   • Develop original concepts and adapt existing IP into compelling film and television projects

   • Build and manage a diverse development slate that aligns with Promise's strategic vision

   • Oversee the development process from concept to production-ready packages

   • Evaluate creative and commercial potential of projects with an eye toward both traditional distribution and GenAI production advantages

2. Creative Leadership

   • Provide creative guidance and feedback throughout the development process

   • Work closely with writers, directors, and producers to refine concepts and scripts

   • Help identify the unique creative opportunities enabled by Promise's GenAI capabilities

   • Champion creative vision while ensuring commercial viability

   • Balance traditional storytelling excellence with innovative GenAI applications

3. Talent & Industry Relationships

   • Leverage existing relationships with writers, directors, actors, and producers to attract high-caliber talent

   • Build and maintain strong connections with agents, managers, and other industry gatekeepers

   • Represent Promise at industry events, festivals, and markets

   • Stay current with industry trends, emerging talent, and competitive landscape

   • Serve as a key ambassador for Promise's unique approach to content creation

4. Distribution Strategy

   • Collaborate with executive team on distribution strategy for developed projects

   • Leverage existing relationships with studios, streamers, and other distribution platforms

   • Identify optimal distribution partners for specific projects

   • Contribute to pitch strategies and materials for projects seeking distribution

   • Help evaluate deal terms and distribution opportunities

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

   • Work closely with Promise's technology and production teams to understand and leverage GenAI capabilities

   • Partner with finance team on project budgeting and financial planning

   • Collaborate with legal team on rights acquisition and talent agreements

   • Contribute to company's overall creative and business strategy

   • Mentor junior development team members

Qualifications

Required:

• 8+ years of experience in film/TV development at a recognized studio, production company, or streamer

• Proven track record developing successful projects across multiple genres

• Experience with animation development, particularly family animation

• Strong existing relationships with talent, agents, and industry decision-makers

• Demonstrated success in identifying, acquiring, and developing IP

• Experience shepherding projects from concept through production

• Deep understanding of the entertainment landscape and distribution ecosystem

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
