About the role

People Business Partner

Contribute to the success of the company by partnering with regional leaders to enhance culture and performance through workforce planning, people development, TM engagement and talent management.  Execute the deployment and consistent delivery of HR programs/initiatives.  Provide proactive partnership to operations to create and deploy people solutions and strategies that align with operational goals, impact behaviors, and drive execution and long-term results. 

Strategic Business Partner and Consultant  30%        
  • Partner to identify solutions and support the accomplishment of region/market performance goals 
  • Support on-boarding and assimilation of new operations leaders from individual units to those with multi market responsibility
  • Challenge decisions that do not have business value; identify/ improve organizational inefficiencies
  • Provide executive coaching for leaders; people-related issues, leadership style, team effectiveness
  • Provide and ensure quality implementation, compliance and educational support of HR initiatives and state labor laws for field leadership and management.
  • Deploy HR training materials and communication. Lead process improvement efforts to create a proactive HR environment. 
  • Analyze workforce trends and performance, drive optimal performance
  • Reinforce the use of Red Robin’s Open Door Policy, Ethics Hotline, and People Advisor Team

Workforce Planning and Succession Planning  25%      
  • Proactively and regularly collaborate with region leaders and Talent Acquisition partners to identify key people needs and strategies that align to the needs of the business
  • Champion a proactive mindset in operations leaders to always be thinking about their next leaders, how to develop those leaders, and what to do to proactively prepare for future people needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the deployment of talent management programs
  • Support district in building capacity of teams and bench strength

Support Company Focuses/Initiatives  20%        

  • Understand the operational needs of different business units and communicate them to the Restaurant Support Center, People team to assist with alignment of initiatives
  • Strong communication skills – multi-channel, various levels of the organization
  • Change leadership – partner with operations leaders to support them in moving their teams through company changes swiftly to capture improved performance/efficiencies

Performance Consulting and Documentation  20%        
  • Provide coaching to region leaders on effective performance management for manager level operations team members.
  • Recommend solutions to bridge performance gaps and facilitate skill set workshops
  • Facilitate leadership development workshops and talent assessment processes to support career development goals and plans
  • Analyze engagement and exit interview data to create proactive solutions to improve retention
  • Provide proactive leadership by anticipating problems and implementing appropriate solutions to minimize risk and legal exposure, while maximizing performance.
  • Provide easy to understand policy and state/federal law interpretation to operations partners

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum Experience &

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in training, HR, business, or another related field preferred
  • (7) years of directly related experience

 

Required

Certifications

  • PHR or SHRM-CP

  • Proficiency in workforce planning, employee relations, coaching and counseling
  • Experience in recommending and interpreting HR policy
  • Ability to communicate effectively within various levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of employment law and risk mitigation
  • Problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong presentation skills to successfully facilitate live and online learning sessions, workshops and seminars
  • Ability to speak in public, motivate, captivate, and influence an audience
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to uphold and role model Red Robin standards
  • Flexible, with ability to adapt to different personalities, styles, and circumstances
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to maintain poise in stressful situ
