We are currently recruiting a Senior Engineer with experience in bridges and/or structures design, to be based in the Spain Enterprise Capabilities Office in Madrid. This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, incorporating a combination of both in-office and remote working schedules”, as outlined below.

The selected candidate will join our busy and expanding experienced team. The team provides assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of Projects, either as standalone bridge commissions or as part of multidisciplinary major projects. Our internal clients work for private and public sector and include long term Framework Agreements with numerous Local Authorities together with Design and Build commissions for many major Contractors.

Our group has an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering design for many years, throughout USA, Australia, Canada or Middle East. You may have the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic Transportation projects, being part of a diverse and multicultural team for the Europe Enterprise Capability Center (Poland/Spain).

The responsibilities of this role include

  • Serves as a bridge (rail/road) or structures lead engineer on mid-size projects supported by EC
  • Makes day-to-day decisions for a technical team, integrating resources from different EC offices (Spain, Poland, India…)
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts and conducts medium complex value engineering evaluations, determining alternative designs, materials, construction techniques
  • Categorizes packages of work to be done by EC, elaborates project execution plans and in combination with internal clients defines the delivery strategy, including composition of design teams
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Approves and signs off on work
  • Accountable for the results of the team and adherence to agreed budget for a specific package of work
  • Delivers effective communication inclusive of internal clients and team members to clarify expectations and requirements
  • Trains, mentors and evaluates less experienced staff (within the Europe GDC or other GDC).

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven track record of working on bridges and/or structures designs and collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams (+8 years)
  • Experience with international regulations and standards (i.e AASTHO; AREMA, Aus-Codes; BS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in engineering calculation software for bridge and structures (preferable Midas Civil, but others as CSiBridge are well considered)
  • Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System
  • Team management experience
  • Experience working in the North America region / Australia will be considered favourably
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University
  • US and/or Australia Professional Engineer license will be considered favourably
