International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has an opening for a Lead Boiler Operator in Memphis, TN. You will provide support to the achievement of plant objectives by ensuring that manufacturing or Utilities equipment in various manufacturing areas operate properly and are maintained.  You will support achievement of plant objectives through maintaining utilities equipment at required operating levels by mentoring boiler operators, making adjustment as needed, entering SAP notifications for repairs as needed, troubleshoot issues, verifying daily log sheets and check list are being filled out properly and that items not in acceptance are corrected or reported, take ownership in completion of SAP PMs for utilities equipment. Must have a Shelby County Boiler Operator 1 license.

• Operate computers to access/utilize company e-mail and to monitor equipment
• Demonstrate awareness of/compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures

• Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner
• Participate in work related training programs and adhere to Company Core Values 
• Report pertinent information to appropriate company personnel 
• Write & Train on Procedures
• Work with Production Coordinator to schedule jobs including shutting down equipment and knowing the effects to production. Communicate weekly work order status & work progress using SAP, email, verbal and Visual Management Board updates to Manager(s), Supervisor(s), Maintenance Coordinator, Engineers, Leads and Technicians.
• Serve as the proprietor of all utility equipment includes, HVAC units, Boilers, Steam Isolation valves, Feed Water Pumps, Cooling Towers, WW samplers, Chillers, Wells, Back Flow Preventers, Air Compressors and Air Dryers.
• Coordinate & oversee HVAC, Boiler Inspector, Boiler & Cooling Tower Treatment, Lawn Care and Plumbing contractor activities.  
• Monitor Boiler, well, compressor area and chiller areas, to make sure areas are staying clean of debris and areas are maintained to a 5S standard.

Education Requirements:

 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

 

Required Experience: 

 

• 5 years’ Experience in operating and maintaining Boilers and utilities systems,  
• Proven Leadership Ability, required
• To become/maintain lead status…
  • Discipline requirement is less than 2 active reprimands.                
  • Good standing by scoring an 80 or above each appraisal review from your supervisor approximately every 6 months

• Site safety and environmental requirements and policies
• Plant work requirements and procedures
• Boiler & Utility operations and procedures
• Site KPIs and the impact of equipment on Safety, OST and Quality

 

Ability to:

 

• Generate notifications, work orders and requisitions
• Modify work order operations, adjust work order operation timing
• Train and demonstrate skills to other mechanics
• Gather and process data from multiple sources related to mechanical/electrical failures
• Translate directional instruction into independent decisions as changes occur
• Deliver on expectations without daily reminders and instruction
