About the role

Regions Hospital is looking for an outstanding Lead Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient team. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all.

Our Lead Certified Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, Pharmacist-in-Charge, and Pharmacist at a newly-established pharmacy located within the HealthPartners Specialty Center at 401 Phalen Boulevard in Saint Paul, MN. The primary purpose of the pharmacy is to enhance patient-specific medication outcomes and provide comprehensive support through close collaboration with the ambulatory multidisciplinary team. 

The position is currently assigned to weekday daytime hours working 8.5-hour shifts. Anticipated pharmacy hours of operation are 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Weekend, evening, and holiday coverage is not currently required; however, scheduling expectations and hours of operation may change based on evolving patient care needs. Tis role: 

  • Serves as the communication link and advocate for teamwork between the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, pharmacists, and technician staff.
  • Directs the work of Certified Pharmacy Technician staff in an assigned area.
  • Supports the department's customer service standards and ensures that staff meet standards.
  • Accurately fills and labels medication orders in assigned area.
  • Assists with inventory management to assure on-hand counts are correct in the computer systems, checks for outdated product on the shelf, and assures that adequate supplies are on hand to facilitate work.
  • Maintains records in compliance with legal requirements, department policies, and procedures.
  • Assures the department that the equipment is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion at all times.

Work Schedule:

FTE: 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly), Day Shift

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Current registration as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy AND
  • Current national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with HIV treatment programs and medications, as well as handling rare, high-cost, or specialty pharmacy therapies.
  • Four years of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, community, or institutional pharmacy setting.
  • Previous leadership experience. Strong customer service orientation including experience meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians or completion of Minnesota Board of Pharmacy technician training requirements if registered as a pharmacy technician after January 1st, 2013.
