Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs Venipuncture and capillary draws on patients of all ages
• This position works independently and as a part of a team, performs clerical and computer duties associated with the laboratory, and provides timely specimen collection and routing of laboratory specimens.
• Works collaboratively and Priorities blood draws appropriately to meet turnaround time goals
• Adheres to standards of proper patient identification in the collection of laboratory specimens
• Collects, receives and delivers specimens to laboratory departments in a timely manner
• Prepares specimens for centrifuge and prepares specimen for a packing/tracking list.
• Manages phone calls received and directs them appropriately as needed.
• Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
• Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

Required Qualifications: 

Education and Training:

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Phlebotomy Certification, American Society Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligible.  Must obtain ASCP certification within 6 months of hire
