Internship Overview
Kingspan is seeking a motivated and analytical Manufacturing Operations Intern to support our Modesto, CA facility through a 10-week, project-based internship. This role is ideal for students interested in manufacturing operations, business analytics, engineering, finance, or IT within an industrial environment.
The intern will work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to enhance labor tracking, preventive maintenance (PM) processes, and stores management. This internship provides exposure to real-world manufacturing challenges and executive-level communication.
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will deliver a formal presentation of project results and recommendations to the Kingspan leadership team.
Project Assignment
Project: Labor Tracking, Maintenance PM Setup, and Stores Management Optimization
The intern will support the development and improvement of labor and maintenance tracking processes through data analysis and model design. Key elements of the project include:
- Supporting the implementation and refinement of labor tracking mechanisms
- Assisting the Maintenance team with preventive maintenance (PM) setup
- Supporting maintenance storeroom and stores management practices
- Developing and designing:
- Workload models
- Output and capacity models
- Variance reports
- Tracking and reporting mechanisms
- Creating a consumption model to better understand labor, maintenance, and material usage
- Translating data into actionable insights and practical recommendations
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and site leadership on assigned project work
- Gather, analyze, and interpret labor, maintenance, and operational data
- Develop reports, dashboards, or tools to track performance and variances
- Provide regular progress updates to assigned mentor or manager
- Document processes and recommend improvements
- Prepare and deliver a professional final presentation to site and senior leadership at the end of the internship
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher), preferably manufacturing-related
- Preferred fields of study include:
- Business (Manufacturing, Operations, or Supply Chain focus)
- Finance
- Engineering
- Information Technology (IT)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with data and translate findings into clear recommendations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in manufacturing environments and continuous improvement
