We are seeking a Service Assistant I – Cafeteria and Catering Service caregiver to work in multiple positions within our cafeteria establishments and to organize, set up and deliver requested catering services to specific requested location or conference room. Provide prompt and courteous service to all customers. Provide customers with efficient and attentive service while exceeding the customer’s expectations. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but other responsibilities of the position may be identified.
This is a part-time position with hours between 5:00am-8:00pm depending on cafeteria support needed and catering requests/demands. Shifts include a combination of the following: 5:30am-2:00pm; 6:30am-3:00pm; 7:00am-3:30pm; 11:15am-7:45pm
*Please note must be able to work all shifts above. Shifts may be adjusted as needed due to business need of the department.
**Must be available to work between 5:00am-8:00PM.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Checks catering ordering website daily, to review requested customer services to be delivered, food and services needed, dates and times.
Prepares coffee and beverage services, salads, sandwiches, box meals, and other items for catering customers.
Organizes each delivery timely, setting up all non-perishable items needed in advance.
Distributes needed food preparation requirements to each food department in advance.
Delivers requested food and beverage to the delivery location, setting up all food and beverage in a professional appearance and logical manner, ensuring all condiments and service ware are available as needed.
Ensures all services are cleaned up at the end of the meeting or requested pick-up time.
Ensures availability of any specialty linen, china and rental needs in advance.
Maintains organization of all daily and weekly services and associated needs, and communications with customers.
Maintains a clean and organized working environment and professional appearance.
Finalizes catering invoices and billing pertaining to delivered services.
May serve as a point of contact for the customers, booking catering, answering questions and potential planning for future service needs.
May assist with stocking food inventory.
May carry and distribute supplies and equipment.
May assist others in the preparation of foods and properly store food.
May be asked to respond to complaints regarding food or service.
Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
Properly cleans all catering equipment after service.
Utilizes appropriate serving utensils and portion control.
Demonstrates knowledge of operation and care of basic food service equipment including dish machine, pot sink, and sanitation stations.
Efficiently operates dish machine and all necessary ware washing equipment.
Demonstrates ability to read dish machine temperatures. Records temperatures according to procedures.
Operates pot washing area by using proper cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Adheres to pot procedures and appropriately stores pots and utensils. Appropriately tests pH of pot sink sanitizer.
Demonstrates appropriate sanitation practices; uses chemicals according to intended use and portion amounts, follows proper mopping procedures, maintains clean work area, removes trash in a timely manner, uses can liners, disposes of cardboard boxes to appropriate disposal area.
Demonstrates ability to comply with ChristianaCare safety requirements, State Board of Health requirements, and regulatory agency requirements.
Demonstrates appropriate infection prevention procedures; maintains proper food holding, serving and storage temperatures, prevents cross contamination, dates and labels food products, rotates stock, wears gloves and protective clothing as required.
