Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Operations/Maintenance Manager to join our team t the Orange plant in Orange, Texas.  The Operations/Maintenance Manager is responsible for directing Plant Operations, Reliability, Mechanical Maintenance, and Instrument & Electrical personnel and supplemental maintenance contractors at the Orange Plant. This position reports to the Plant Manager and is a member of the Orange Site Leadership Team.  #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Establishes overall safety leadership strategies and directs safety activities within Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability.
  • Sets strategic direction for Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability.  Directs prioritization and execution of capital and expense projects in alignment with Business and Manufacturing needs.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts and executes site-specific and company Operations / Maintenance / Reliability initiatives.
  • Monitors plant operations and advises on necessary maintenance/reliability improvements.  Manages costs within budget, executes shutdowns, turnarounds, outage planning/oversight, and provides quality services utilizing SAP systems and principles.
  • Works with Polyolefins Business management to optimize product portfolios, plan production and resolve business and consumer issues.
  • Works with Research & Technology on continual improvement and growth initiatives.
  • Works with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability personnel to ensure reliable and efficient operations and repair/improvement of equipment while fostering an open, productive, quality work environment among diverse work groups. 
  • Directs environmental compliance of plant operations including proper compliance, compliance reporting, investigation of incidents, initiation of environmental improvement projects and preparation of Title V operating permit compliance reports.
  • Works with EHSS and Technical organization to identify and lead improvement efforts to meet Sustainability goals. 
  • Prepares annual budget for Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with at least 10 years of experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 15 years of experience in petrochemical/refinery manufacturing.
  • Must have at least 7 years of proven operations and/or maintenance supervisory experience (10 years preferred) 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization with above average presentation, writing, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of petrochemical or refining operations/maintenance procedures, work processes, and systems.
  • Ability to persuade and negotiate ideas to other plant personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
