Registered Nurse, RN – Quality Charge Specialist

The Quality Charge RN Specialist is an important member of the Emergency Department Team.
Responsibilities include:
- Accurately and completely identify all nursing technical and procedural ED charges. Facilitate charge capture for services and care provided for each patient in Emergency Department.
- Accurate and timely review of all Emergency Department (ED) medical records to:
- identify and process charges
- analysis of moderate sedation cases for quality assurance
- ensure all elements of the paper record are collated and sensitive information is managed appropriately
- analysis of other identified quality improvement data
- Educate nursing staff on proper method to document nursing procedures and medications. This includes training for all new hires and as needed follow-up in collaboration with the manager and director when areas of opportunities are identified.
- Maintains an acceptable level of accuracy and productivity rate for capturing all charges reflected on nursing technical and procedural charge code master form, based on internal and external quality improvement audits
- Understands data collection techniques and demonstrates knowledge regarding statistical data analysis, selects appropriate data collection method for charge capture activities
- Maintains a collaborative relationship and communication with the Health Information Department to assure timely completion of charge capture for the Emergency Department
- Maintains a working knowledge of all coding and reimbursement resources.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to charge capture issues, concerns.
- Assesses problem accounts promptly and notify supervisor as necessary.
- During chart audits, identifies missing or inaccurate information.
- Provides feedback to staff and/or clinical manager and director, as needed.
Hours:
24 hours/week, 3 days/week 8-hour shifts
No weekends or holidays- remote possibility
Qualifications:
- MA RN license required
- Valid BLS
- Emergency Department RN experience
