Purpose
The position will provide support for Professor Wayne Schiess’s teaching of legal research and written legal analysis to first-year students as well as upper-division students. The student hired will help Mr. Schiess create effective assessments of analytical writing.
Responsibilities
Meet regularly with Mr. Schiess
Write pieces of legal analysis
Research and report on topics related to written legal analysis, including generative AI
Required Qualifications
Enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin as a law student in the second or third year
Meet minimum eligibility requirements for student employment
Authorized to work in the United States
Ability to work in the fall semester 2025 and possibly spring semester 2026
Preferred Qualifications
Worked in a law-related summer job that required the student to produce written legal analysis.
Salary Range
$19 per hour (2L)
$21 per hour (3L)
Working Conditions
Repetitive use of a keyboard.
Work may be performed at the Law School or remotely.
Work Schedule
Must be available to work 5 - 15 hours per week.
Position begins as early as August 16, 2025, and ends May 31, 2026.
Most work can be completed independently on a schedule that the employee determines with oversight and direction regarding deadlines and deliverables.
