Job Description

We are seeking a driven and resourceful individual to join the Risk Operations Team. As a Risk Operations Specialist you will play a critical role in managing the processes and controls used to prevent, detect and mitigate fraudulent activity on Square’s platform while balancing a seamless customer experience. This position would analyze unrecognizable risk patterns and communicate with our clients in cases where additional information is required. 

You will:

• Participate in the creation and implementation of robust and scalable fraud preventative solutions for multiple Square products
• Monitor numerous real-time queues and review high-risk activity, requiring demonstrated decision-making and critical thinking skills across multiple Square products.
• Contact and effectively communicate with customers and internal partners to ensure all SLAs are achieved with little or no supervision
• Contribute to the development and safeguarding of our payment ecosystem across multiple products and services offered by Square
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence, and a fun work environment, while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our controls
• Collaborate with Risk teams on developing fraud risk management strategies that reduce false positives, improve seller experience, and assist in the response to emerging fraud risks & schemes.
• All candidates must be flexible with their schedule; having the ability to work non-traditional shifts as well as potential weekends & holidays. Typical schedule is 8:30 AM - 5:30PM PST, can be flexible on occasion.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting investigations by gathering sensitive data-points, identifying patterns through multiple high-risk signal detection
• Flexibility to adapt and able to manage multiple assignments while working independently
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, critical thinking and self-starter skills required
• Strong knowledge of Fraud vectors including prevention techniques
• Requires shift-work, including potential weekends, non-business hours and holidays. 
• Experience: 3+ years in a risk related role required which includes customer support
• Experience with mobile check deposits or banking operations

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $37.50 - USD $45.87
Zone B: USD $34.86 - USD $42.64
Zone C: USD $31.88 - USD $38.99
Zone D: USD $28.13 - USD $34.38
