Job Description Summary
The Engineering Planning Leader will be responsible and accountable for Engineering business headcount planning inclusive of demand/capacity modeling, cost liquidations and liquidation rate planning to enable adequate forecasting and workforce planning. This role requires a strong operating cadence working horizontally across Nuclear Engineering teams and a ‘One Team’ approach with key stakeholders in HR and Finance. This is a visible role, interacting with Engineering General Managers as well as many leaders across the business. It will include all elements of the business planning cycle inclusive of SII/Op planning for the next year and long-range forecasting (3–5-year view).Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide accountable ownership for establishing and meeting the Nuclear Engineering headcount target inclusive of close collaboration with FP&A, HR and Finance on Headcount target based on budget and operational needs. Own in-year target adjustments.
- Lead Engineering capacity and demand modeling to guide/enable resource sharing and resource add discussions
- Establish an operating cadence to strategically collaborate horizontally across Nuclear Engineering on headcount plans both in current and forthcoming. Set & agree to targets for each Nuclear Engineering team.
- Set-up a contemporary process / standard work for review and approval of headcount adds
- Accountable ownership of headcount strategy, including daily management, analysis of current trends and associated KPI’s to provide insights for decision making
- Support Nuclear business processes … headcount planning by quarter, total year, Long Range Forecast, Budget and Op planning
- Provide active feedback to Engineering operations & finance and course adjust headcount and functional cost productivity to meet organizational goals
- Establish and drive consistency of Engineering demand/capacity data sources for one source of truth for Nuclear organization
- Prepare presentations, tailored to the audience that convey key messages / guidance
- Own narratives on headcount changes and clearly communicate at all levels of the organization
- Support organizational simplification & build/execute plans for continuous improvement, productivity and automation
- Effectively work cross functionally and lead teams to a common goal
- Partner with other Ops Leaders as necessary
- Partner with Digital to manage, maintain and improve overall demand and capacity data portal quality
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in technical or business-related discipline from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with financial planning/demand planning with large complex organizations.
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial related experience
- Minimum of 2 years Supervisory/People Leader experience
Eligibility:
- The preferred work location is the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy site in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified remote candidates will be considered (US based)
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Characteristics
- Prior experience in regulated industries, such as Nuclear
- Prior experience in Power, Energy industries
- In depth understanding of Engineering functional cost categories, processes and hours usage.
- Proven experience leading cross functional teams toward a common goal using credibility, influence and trust as key elements to say-do
- Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large matrixed organizations – understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships
- Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate requirements & facilitate best practice-sharing in a motivating, engaging way.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and the logistics associated with them
- Comfortable with conflict but leads as a collaborator, facilitator and strong partner.
- Critical, systems thinker with the ability to bring others along, even those with conflicting priorities.
- Data-driven but decisive in decisioning despite ambiguity
The base pay range for this position is $112,000 to $160,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses
