Supervises the functions of an interdisciplinary team for an assigned department(s) and is responsible for the daily operations. Supervises activities and provides clinical and administrative expertise for the defined program by working with patients & clinicians, developing program standards and protocols, maintaining program certifications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in the continuum of care (acute, inpatient rehab, outpatient and community) toward delivery of patient care and program objectives. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. The Rehab Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises an interdisciplinary team of clinical professionals which may include physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, speech pathologists, recreational therapists, psychologists, rehabilitation techs, social workers, RN case managers and/or other support personnel
  • Manages department staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed
  • Assists with the development of the budget and with financial management; administers budgets and oversees the control of expenses for the department/unit
  • Plans and evals program development with focus on organization, communication and marketing
  • Works with Medical Director of defined program and other physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare team and administration to manage, supervise and coordinate the defined program through the development of protocols, standards and coordination of patient care
  • Participates in the Hospital quality improvement process by supervising and providing quality review of patient care for patients including quality outcome and safety measures
  • Identifies training, development and equipment needs for defined program
  • Ensures that all regulatory agency standards pertaining to specific disciplines and defined program are being met i.e. TJC, CARF, CMS
  • Functions in the capacity of allied health field practitioner in the daily provision of patient treatment, coordination of treatment with other disciplines and completion of required documentation per the needs of the department. 

Home Health Only:

  • Plans for and provides skilled occupational therapy treatment in the home, reassessing the patient's status on each visit and ensuring quality of care as documented in the clinical record.
  • Maintains and submits all required patient documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with home health policies and procedures. 

Inpatient Rehab Hospital Only:

  • Provides daily clinical operations support, instruction and assistance to the nursing unit in conjunction with the nursing Clinical Director regarding the service coordination, procedures and programs.
  • Supports nursing activities in the absence of the Clinical Director. 
  • Reports to assigned leader. 
  • This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. 

Home Evaluations:

  •  Exposed to traffic and weather conditions while riding or driving with patients in vehicle. 
  • Potential for high stress level.
  • Potential for involvement in accidents involving property damage, injury and even death. Frequent exposure to weather extremes.
