Job Summary/Basic Function
The Academic Advisor will collaborate with students to co-create educational plans in ways that are consistent with their aspirations, interests, strengths, and values--preparing them for a life of learning in a diverse and global society. Academic advising focuses on helping students transition into college, planning educational goals, and supporting retention and graduation through collaboration with faculty mentors. Academic advisors work with traditional, transfer, and undeclared students, ensuring they stay on track for graduation through constant engagement and monitoring. The academic advisor role is geared toward supporting student success, providing both academic and career advising while maintaining high standards of professionalism and collaboration within their respective college.
Required Education
Advisor: Master's degree. Note: A Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of directly related, progressively responsible experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
Advanced Advisor: Master's degree (earned by start date)
Required Related Experience
Advisor: No experience required with a Master's degree.
Advanced Advisor: Minimum of two years experience in the role of Academic Advisor or Student Support
