Job Summary:
The Director, Sales - North America is responsible for growing sales opportunities and maintaining existing customers all ABS product lines. Sales director responsibilities include developing key growth sales strategies, tactics, and action plans. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve our financial targets. The Director of Sales duties will include hitting annual targets, building relationships, and understanding customer trends.
The role will be responsible for managing and mentoring sales team members, prospecting, account management, closing new accounts, retaining current customers, analyzing competitors, and keeping abreast of new technologies. They will have good technical knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and the electric vehicle and industrial market segments and will have relationships with distributors and OEMs in these markets.
Responsibilities:
- Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets.
- Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.
- Accurately forecast and deliver sales ranging in magnitude from $10 - $200M+ each with profitability and risk profiles according to company directives.
- Own customer relationship and opportunity business cases.
- Develop, manage, and grow long term relationships with key customer accounts.
- Create and execute strategy and account planning for assigned customers.
- Prepare and submit customer proposals.
- Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
- Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations.
- Enter timely and relevant data on opportunities and accounts in SalesForce CRM (funnel management).
- Understand category-specific landscapes and trends.
- Reporting on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering or equivalent field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Lithium-ion battery sales or business development role.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a professional business environment.
- Consultative selling skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop a winning solution. Demonstrated success influencing senior-level stakeholders.
- Proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets.
- Previous experience as a sales executive, sales manager or sales and marketing director.
- Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
- Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
- Proven ability to position products against competitors.
- Demonstrable experience as head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions.
- Ability to work in a dynamic start-up environment where initiative and ownership is required.
- Must be highly self-motivated and proactive.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite & Salesforce CRM.
