We’re looking for a Senior Planner – Federal Planning to join our expanding team as we continue to grow our presence across the U.S. and globally. This role can be based in Philadelphia, PA; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; or Laurel, MD — with flexibility to consider other U.S. locations for the right candidate.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Under general direction, provides technical expertise to diverse planning projects throughout the assigned area of responsibility and/or companywide. May function as lead planner or technical consultant. Work will involve master planning for military, federal, and state organizations in the United States and for its worldwide partners. Tasks will primarily include work related to master planning, programming, planning charrettes, real property management, facility utilization, and land planning with occasional utility assessment, transportation, and environmental projects.

  • The person in this position will have the latitude and ability to help shape our future direction, implement ideas, and grow the business.  The person in this position assumes a management and/or senior technical role on military planning and programming, and related projects. Responsibilities include:

    • Leads a team of interdisciplinary staff (e.g., engineers, architects, cost estimators, GIS professionals) on many of the projects.

    • Assists in the development of Task Order Response Notifications, Request for Qualifications, and/or other similar type Request for Proposal responses.

    • Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating planning projects.

    • Coordinates preparation of technical reports and project submissions.

    • Participates in negotiations with clients. Monitors work progress and conformance to technical standards and regulations.

    • Manages planning projects for budget compliance, deadlines, and quality control. Prepares plans and/or leads a team in preparation of plans and DD 1391s. Leads planning charrettes when needed.

    • Routinely manages projects. Performs other duties important for the planning program including periodic Business Development.

    • Work involves planning and developing plans for complex and challenging situations.

    • Travel expectations for this position average about one week of travel per month (12 weeks/year).

What will you contribute?

We expect you to contribute to the growth, leadership, and professionalism of the federal planning team and the company. We hope you will provide guidance and mentorship to more junior staff. We want to hear about new ideas, better processes, critical thinking and ways the team can improve.

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, or a related field. Master's or graduate level, technical coursework is preferred; this may be achieved by Planners with at least ten years’ experience since a Bachelor's degree or at least nine years since a Master's.

  • The ideal candidate has 12-20 years of relevant experience. Experience working with the US military departments or being a former military service member is strongly desired. Extensive military master planning, programming, and/or construction experience is strongly desired. Experience managing interdisciplinary teams for DoD projects is preferred.

  • AICP certification is required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or a willingness to obtain PMP is desirable.
