Cruise is looking for an expert Senior Staff Tech Lead Manager to manage a team of experienced Technical Program Managers and to also own and deliver on business critical scaling programs for Cruise’s leadership. In this position you will work cross-functionally to deliver solutions that have a direct impact on the growth of Cruise. You will work closely with the Senior Management and Leadership on initiatives in the AI Foundations group of AI which include the Machine Learning engineering teams and Data Science. What you’ll be doing:

  • Work across technical products to set visions, drive software strategy, align orgs, and deliver outcomes in partnership with Machine Learning engineering teams and Data Science.
  • Proactively identify potential future gaps, plus short-term mitigation and long-term solutions
  • Collaborate with internal customers and leadership to drive strategic planning
  • Drive product strategy and phasing, including clear success definitions and alignment
  • Ensure Cruise is working on the highest impact/ROI work
  • Collaborate to build systems that are scalable, fault tolerant, and easily extensible
  • Grow and mentor high performance leaders to scale the organization
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives that build a high performance culture
  • Empower your team to execute independently while staying engaged via efficient review
  • Rollout mechanisms that will measure and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization

What you must have:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in tech-related fields; including time spent as an engineer or other working on highly technical software products
  • 8+ years of technical program management experience delivering highly impactful and innovative products at scale
  • 3+ years managing other product, program, operations, and/or engineering teams
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work across functions and influence senior leaders
  • Demonstrated success setting product vision and strategy, and completing projects from ideation to shipping
  • Able to advise VP leadership on technical and execution strategy
  • Self motivation and passion to lead your teams, encourage standard processes, and constantly improve
  • Passionate about self-driving car technology and its impact on the world 
  • Prior experience working in Machine Learning or related domains

Bonus points!

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or similar
  • Strong intuition for business - MBA or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience working with Data Science teams

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - 294,100. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
