The Senior Project Manager, Sustainability Package Engineering, is responsible for establishing both short and long term packaging sustainability strategies for the Diagnostics business. The position will drive and/or own the creation and implementation of sustainable packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact while complying with global regulations. This role requires collaboration across multiple departments and external suppliers to ensure sustainable packaging solutions meet business and customer needs, incorporating eco-friendly materials and innovative processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas of opportunity for sustainability improvements for packaging of the diagnostics products, socializing and gaining alignment cross-functionally.

  • Develop and drive execution of sustainable packaging solutions that reduce environmental footprint and adhere to regulatory standards.

  • Track and report key sustainability metrics such as waste reduction, carbon footprint, and material efficiency to support corporate sustainability objectives.

  • Leverage knowledge and expertise in global requirements, regulations and materials to improve the Diagnostics sustainability mission.

  • Promote standardized packaging approaches across multiple sites and work with global distribution centers to resolve packaging challenges.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable materials and processes into packaging design and manufacturing.

  • Collaborate with Research & Development, Supply Chain, Quality, Marketing, and suppliers to align packaging strategies with business goals.

  • Assist business in responding to Tender Requests with information on packaging sustainability around materials, processes and distribution.

  • Engage with industry groups, associations, and forums ensures continuous awareness of trends, best practices, and regulatory developments in packaging. Leverage connections to help adopt strategies around evolving sustainability standards and industry innovations.

  • Oversee packaging quality, establish standards, and ensure delivery of high-quality packaging solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related field is required.

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in package engineering and operations, specifically with focused experience in sustainability improvements, preferably with expertise in medical device or laboratory diagnostics regulatory requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of sustainable materials, lifecycle assessments, circular economy principles, ASTM/ISO standards, and packaging technologies.

  • Proven project management skills, including experience managing cross-functional teams and budgets.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills to foster collaboration and alignment.

  • Ability to innovate, solve problems, and influence across various functions and leadership levels.

  • Proficiency with CAD, statistical analysis, structural design, packaging equipment, automation, and printing technologies.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
