Job Summary
The Field Technician / Millwright is responsible for providing on-site technical services and mechanical support at client locations. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment while delivering high-quality customer service. The position requires strong mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in diverse field environments. Travel to client sites and flexibility in working conditions are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
Install, assemble, align, configure, and commission industrial machinery and equipment at client sites
Ensure equipment is installed according to specifications, technical drawings, and safety standards
Verify proper operation and optimize system performance after installation
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and industrial equipment
Diagnose mechanical and system failures, determine root causes, and implement effective repairs
Replace worn or defective components to restore full functionality
Conduct routine inspections and report defects, wear, or recurring issues
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment and system issues on-site
Work closely with internal team members, supervisors, and management when complex issues arise
Support equipment upgrades, shutdowns, and plant turnarounds as required
Customer Support & Team Collaboration
Provide professional, responsive customer service while working at client locations
Communicate clearly with customers regarding equipment status, repairs, and recommendations
Collaborate with electrical, automation, and operations teams during installations and breakdowns
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all installation, maintenance, and repair activities
Complete service reports, work orders, and site documentation in a timely manner
Escalate recurring technical issues or concerns to supervisors for further evaluation
Safety & Compliance
Adhere strictly to company safety policies, industry standards, and site-specific regulations
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices at all times
Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment in industrial and potentially hazardous environments
Travel & Flexibility
Travel to various customer and job sites as required
Adapt to varying work environments, including industrial plants, outdoor sites, and physically demanding conditions
Qualifications
Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced problem-solving skills
Proven ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial machinery
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and lifting or rigging equipment
Strong welding skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a team
Physical capability to lift heavy components and work in industrial environments
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or plant environments
Trade background as a Millwright, Mechanical Technician, or equivalent experience
Willingness and ability to travel for field service work
Ability to pass a full drug screening
Preferred Certifications (not required)
Welding certification
Forklift, crane, or rigging certification
CDL Class A
