The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reports To: Sergeant
Hourly rate: $16.80
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Union: (O.P.B.A) Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association
Performs all duties and responsibilities associated with ensuring the safety of all building staff including submitting written safety and incident reports as required by Safety and Security Management
Responsibilities
- Confers with principal, staff, and students for the purpose of increasing communication and multi-cultural understanding
- Observes and reports any potential problems in and around the building
- Develops methods to prevent intrusion within a school building by outside unauthorized persons
- Assists in protecting the rights of individuals and school property
- Assists in the supervision of pupil movement and of priority areas before, during and after school
- Submits written safety and incident reports as required by Safety and Security Management
- May and monitor magnetometers & X-Ray machines to control access and detect contraband
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in related school or urban safety and security procedures
- Individual with mature judgment
- Ability to relate to individuals in conflict situations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of persons of all ages within the school system
- Must have OPOTC, "120 hours," private police certification at the time of application
- Will be provided 40 hours of Mandatory CMSD annual training
- Must meet departmental physical requirement standards
