Summary
As sustainability continues to grow in importance and complexity, this position is responsible for working across the enterprise with senior leaders to build the processes and policies to meet the emerging requirements for ESG disclosures. This role is responsible for the full execution of the yearly sustainability report as well as CSRD, SEC and other non-financial disclosures. This role will be responsible for developing the long-term strategic road-map as it relates to the elements of the NFD, aligning with global reporting frameworks, lender requirements and topics of interest to value chain partners. The NFD require strict governance to ensure the sustainability related topics are effectively embedded in CHS and its strategy.
As a member of the sustainability team and key personnel within CHS, this role will use their 10+ years of industry knowledge and experience to develop ESG processes, policies, and governance and publish the annual sustainability report and other NFD. Additionally, this role will represent CHS externally and internally serve as a subject matter expert, working across the enterprise with business units such as government affairs, operations, legal, compliance, energy, agribusiness and country ops.
This role will be instrumental in building and accelerating CHS’s ability to develop and publish ESG disclosures. working cross-functionally to develop a compelling ESG performance roadmap and working collaboratively to position CHS credibly among customers, partners, employees, and stakeholders. This role will help define and execute our global reporting strategy and well as build processes with key functions and business partners. They will help generate story ideas and insights for internal and external communications and support CHS respond to the growing need for credible, consistent, and timely information about sustainability at CHS.
Responsibilities
75%:
- Manage CHS’s enterprise sustainability disclosures, both mandatory and voluntary, annual corporate sustainability report and submitting to reporting frameworks such as CDP.
- Support CHS in navigating the landscape of evolving global, regional, and local sustainability reporting and compliance obligations including overall trends and their implications on the business.
- Develop and manage the execution of CHS’s enterprise sustainability disclosure roadmap including developing major reporting goals, milestones and performance indicators that are aligned with leadership, lenders and regulatory expectations.
- Work collaboratively with key partners in legal, risk, audit, compliance and finance to identify, develop and execute critical initiatives to advance CHS’s ESG disclosure capabilities in the short-and medium term, including processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Work with business partners to continue to enhance ESG governance, including oversight of key ESG risks and opportunities and the development of processes and policies.
- Work collaboratively with global and regional teams to drive proactive management of ESG-related initiative.
- Work collaboratively to develop and execute relevant sustainability-related trainings for internal CHS teams.
- Benchmark and communicate sustainability performance and support internal education and awareness.
- Partner with communications to prepare leadership for external communication to lenders, investors, and other CHS stakeholders

- Industry engagement: Engage in conversations and events related to ESG disclosures to ensure that CHS is up to date and interests are considered

Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years work experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainability, finance, communications, marketing, or related field
- 5 years of experience with sustainability, climate, ESG or environmental communications
- 2 years of experience with corporate sustainability or sustainability reporting such as CDP, TCFD, or CSRD
Additional Qualifications
⦁ Experience leading the development and implementation of sustainability reporting strategy
