This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

In this role you will lead the system-level electrical test effort for one of Blue Origin’s Lunar spacecraft. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of spacecraft integration and test by collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineers, technicians, customers, Blue Origin teammates, Lunar Lander National Team partners, and aerospace test facility operators across the USA. You will lead a team of engineers to plan, prepare, and execute all the system-level powered-on tests including aliveness, functional, performance, verification, and acceptance tests. You will be responsible for end-to-end performance of test campaigns including development of test plans and procedures, test facility coordination and preparations, test readiness reviews, test execution, and test report generation. This leadership role works directly with the SLD director of integration and test and requires big dreams and excellent communication.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • High level test planning including assessing test requirements and standards compliance and balancing technical risks, cost, and schedule for the vehicle test program

  • Directing, overseeing, and mentoring a team of test engineers

  • Developing Test Plans and Procedures for module and vehicle level functional and performance testing

  • Preparing for tests including resource planning, staffing, facilities preparations, and preparing and executing reviews such as Test Readiness Reviews

  • Acting as Test Director for test execution

  • Overseeing test anomaly response and troubleshooting

  • Generating test reports and supporting requirements verification activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience planning and executing powered electrical tests on space flight hardware

  • Experience leading a team of engineers

  • Familiarity with industry test standards such as SMC-S-016

  • Knowledge of spacecraft acceptance and qualification test, electrical ground support equipment, mechanical ground support equipment, and environmental test facilities

  • Familiarity with the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or an equivalent related field

  • Typically 8 or more years of experience

  • Ability to travel as needed to support test planning and execution

  • Ability to support odd hours and long weeks during test execution

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on NASA programs and human spaceflight programs

  • Experience leading system-level test campaigns on large spacecraft

  • Experience defining, designing, and/or operating spacecraft ground support equipment

  • Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)

  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchil
