The Role
As a Principal Engineer on the Lumen Digital Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our development team through software architecture, ensuring adherence to coding standards, and implementing effective design patterns. Your expertise will be crucial in driving the technical direction of our projects and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.
The Main Responsibilities
- Guide the development team in designing and implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable software architectures.
- Establish and enforce coding standards to ensure high-quality code and consistency across the development team.
- Advocate for and implement design patterns that promote code reusability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Oversee the technical aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to improve our development processes and technologies.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or similar role, with a strong background in software development and architecture.
- Expertise in coding standards, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
