Compensation includes a base salary of $142,100.00 - $236,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. As a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering in Cox Automotive's EV Battery Solutions division, you will be responsible for leading, growing, and developing teams of innovative Software Engineers in designing, implementing, and delivering high-quality software products. To be successful in this role, you must be able to lead effectively in an agile environment. This position requires strong technical, design, communication, and collaboration skills. We are looking for candidates with a passion for solving problems in a growing business, an ability to clearly communicate with business partners across roles, and lead teams in providing mission-critical software.
Your Role:
- Drive stability and quality throughout the organization.
- Establish productive relationships with leadership in Engineering, Product, HR and Operations departments.
- Develop resource strategies, allocating staff, development tools and specialized support as necessary to ensure our development and delivery commitments are met.
- Mentor, guide, and coach development team members (offshore and onshore) to ensure they succeed individually and as a team in an Agile environment.
- Review, evaluate, plan and improve existing and future development tools, processes, methodologies, and resources.
- Conduct code reviews.
- Develop and improve development best practices.
- Ensure delivery of the best quality products.
- Desire and ability to learn new skills and improve upon current skills.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as Master's degree and 6 years experience; a P.h.D. and 3 years; or 20 years' experience in a related field.
- 5+ years leadership experience developing software products in an agile environment using modern development tools and techniques.
Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC): This includes experience in project planning, estimation, execution, and delivery.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms: This position will be working closely with third party cloud based vendors regarding the platforms we work on.
Leadership and Management Skills:
- Experience leading and motivating small to medium-sized engineering teams: Extensive experience not necessary, candidates should have a proven track record of getting results through others.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills: This position will need to effectively communicate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands: Juggling project needs with stakeholder requests and team goals requires strong prioritization skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills: This position will be asked to analyze problems, identify solutions, and make clear decisions that benefit the team and project.
- Collaborate with product owners, architecture, test engineers, scrum masters, peers, and stakeholders to enable the success of EV Battery Solutions.
- Manage career progression for team members, including hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, coaching, and all duties normally associated with a hiring manager.
- Work with your team to plan, design, implement and operationalize innovations and improvements to existing software.
- Work with your team to continually improve their processes and develop best practices for agile development that deliver value to our stakeholders.
