Tax Manager, Sales and Use Tax

We work together with Treasury, Corporate Accounting and other Linde business groups. We are dedicated to minimizing time spent processing tax filings and enhancing the professional growth of our team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly Vertex to General Ledger to Tax Return Data Reconciliations

• Prepare end of month Balance Sheet, Cash Reconciliations and submit any necessary adjusting entries

• Facilitate the submission of Sales & Use Tax return payments via Anybill

• Submit Treasury requests to fund the monthly Sales & Use Tax return payments

• Assist with monthly compliance, as needed

• Support the business by reviewing Sales Orders for sales tax calculation, customer setup and JDE/Vertex setup purposes

• Oversee Sales & Use tax audits/negotiations, including 1 direct report

• Review requests for exemption certificates, prepare and issue, where applicable

• SME for the maintenance of the Vertex O Series Tax Engine, including taxability drivers and tax mappings etc.

• Review and submit refund requests, both internal and external, where applicable

• Special projects, as necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MST degree or courses a plus

• Min of 7 years Sales Tax experience in either a large industry or Big 4 Public Accounting with a Manufacturing or retail background

• Experience using Vertex or other sales tax software is necessary

• Prior experience managing a team preferred

• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements utilizing innovative solutions

• Ability to work cross functionally in a matrix organization

• Ability to drive value and minimize tax within the sales tax function

• Strong project management skills

• Strong desire to work in a progressive tax department where meeting the compliance deadlines are considered the minimum requirements for the position. Desire to work on "value added" special projects beyond compliance and audit defense
