Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
- Senior-level analyst and subject matter expert (SME) engaged in a broad range of activities associated with administering various retail natural gas programs. Leads and performs inbound scheduling of transportation, storage, and gathering transactions on transmission and gathering systems. Oversees all responsibilities related to outbound scheduling on third party pipelines, including: placing nominations; posting capacity release transactions, and; ensuring payback of exchange deals. Interacts closely with key energy customers, and is responsible for customer satisfaction. Employees hired into this role will be assigned to and expected to be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts that include weekends and holidays. Must be available for rotating on-call coverage. Span of control: 0; this is an individual contributor job.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversees all duties associated with processing inbound nominations on transmission and gathering systems. Includes confirming, balancing, and allocating nominations, and tracking and reconciling imbalances with third party pipelines and/or producers. Requires continuous interaction with key customers, passion for customer service, and close coordination with Legal, Regulatory, Marketing, Billing, Accounting, Audit, Gas Supply, and other Gas Operations business units.
- SME on the Company's gas nomination system; entails linking detailed knowledge of system functionality to internal and external usersÆ needs, troubleshooting system problems, and coordinating with IT and external software vendors on fixes and enhancements.
- Oversees all duties associated with processing outbound nominations on third party pipelines, including analyzing natural gas purchase plans, structuring transport deals in the least cost fashion; posting capacity release arrangements on third party pipelines, and; ensuring payback of exchange gas.
- Oversees administration of various retail natural gas programs. Entails acting as key contact for these programs with frequent interaction with regulatory and third party audit personnel. Ensures regulatory and contractual compliance.
- Performs complex financial and operational analysis to determine impact of new or modified service offerings or procedural changes; makes and implements complex decisions with minimal oversight.
- Applies Continuous Improvement tools to develop new procedures or to streamline and automate existing procedures.
- May lead special cross-functional natural gas projects; participates in cross-functional teams to develop new or enhance existing processes.
- May act as subject matter expert witness in regulatory proceedings.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, accounting/finance, economics or a related discipline, and 5 years of energy industry experience in an operational, finance, marketing or related capacity.
- Must have natural gas scheduling experience.
Other Qualifications
- Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence.
- Broad understanding of power generation, transmission, distribution and regional power dispatch issues.
- Must be able to work a rotational shift schedule that includes weekends and holidays and oncall coverage.
