Internal Audit Internship

First National Bank of America is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our Internal Audit team. This internship offers an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in various internal audit projects and financial statement audit preparation. As an intern, you will play a part in supporting the accomplishment of various audit initiatives, which will be customized according to the department’s demands. These projects will serve to assess controls and pinpoint potential risks to the organization. The Internal Audit Intern role will involve becoming familiar with internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and testing their effectiveness. This internship begins in May/June 2025 and is onsite at our East Lansing, MI headquarters.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluating bank processes
• Identifying Risk
• Evaluating Controls
• Documenting and communicating audit results

Qualifications:

• Excel and Microsoft Office
• Written Communication
• Database Knowledge beneficial but not required

This Internal Audit Internship is designed to build technical internal audit skills, professional development skills, and industry knowledge to build on for a financial services career:

1. Risk Identification: Develop the ability to identify and assess potential risks within an organization.
2. Control Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), contributing to the enhancement of our risk management practices.
3. Written and Verbal communication: Improve your communication skills, both written and verbal, in a professional setting.
4. Problem Solving: Enhance your problem-solving abilities by addressing real-world audit challenges.
5. Gain hands-on experience with both proprieties internally developed software as well as applications used by many other financial institutions and audit departments.
