Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a results-driven leader to serve as the Mesa Specialty Materials Program Senior Manager.

This role is a critical leadership position responsible for shaping and delivering the future of specialty materials for mission-critical platforms. You will lead the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for Phantom Works Special Materials (Core/Cards), drive strategy and operational execution, and accelerate the transition of advanced materials technologies into production for Boeing customers.

This position offers an opportunity to influence program direction, lead high-performing teams, and ensure exceptional performance and compliance on key defense platforms.

Position responsibilities

  • Own program execution and operational excellence for Phantom Works Special Materials (Core/Cards), aligning multi‑functional teams to deliver to plan.

  • Define and implement an operating rhythm and Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) goals and improvement plan to raise consistency, predictability and performance.

  • Provide Profit & Loss awareness for program performance drivers; manage resources to meet cost, schedule and quality objectives.

  • Lead risk, issue and opportunity management—drive mitigation strategies, escalate appropriately, and capture lessons learned.

  • Govern requirements change control and ensure traceability and compliance with government customer requirements.

  • Provide technical oversight of suppliers, approve technical approaches, products and processes, and champion continuous supplier performance improvement.

  • Act as a primary customer integrator for program status, performance, and escalation with key customers (B1B, F/A-18, & Proprietary).

  • Drive experimentation and rapid prototyping where appropriate to de‑risk new materials and accelerate transition to production.

  • Deliver program-level reporting, metrics and briefings for senior leadership and stakeholders.

  • Build cross‑organizational partnerships with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance and customers to ensure successful delivery.

Required qualifications

  • 3 + years Demonstrated leadership managing program teams in aerospace/defense or comparable complex environments.

  • 10+ years of experience in a technical field

  • Proven experience leading Integrated Product Teams and coordinating multi‑functional stakeholders.

  • Strong background in supplier technical management, requirements change control, risk management and government compliance.

  • Track record of driving continuous improvement and establishing program management best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present program status and strategy to senior leaders and customers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, program management, business, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Phantom Works, specialty materials, or related advanced materials programs.

  • Direct experience supporting B1B, F/A‑18 or similar defense platforms.

  • PMP/PgMP certification or advanced degree.

Travel:

This position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
