BASF/Chemetall, is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide. The Chemist – Cleaners position requires a combination of strong laboratory, field application, communication, and interpersonal skills.  This a great opportunity for a motivated and dynamic individual in a new technology area working with an international team.  There is high potential for growth that will be challenging and highly rewarding. 

 

This individual will develop new products, assist with product modifications, and test procedures for the evaluation of these products. You will interface with Business Development and Manufacturing to solve customers’ technical problems and introduce new products. and recommend appropriate products for customers’ operations and provide technical consultation/advice to the Field Sales force and Field Application Engineers.

As a Chemist-Cleaners (ECT-Chemetall), you create chemistry by...

• Planning and Conducting research activities as a project leader or under the guidance of group leader.
• Formulating new cleaners. Modifying standard products for improved performance and field test new products.
• Interacting with vendor representatives for new information on raw materials.
• Providing technical advice to the sales force, field engineers and customers. While providing accurate and timely results and lab reports.
• Developing new testing procedures. Assist in technology transfer. Write specifications for raw materials and products.
• Devising manufacturing procedures and process and modifying standard products for improved performance.
• Writing specifications for raw materials and products, and providing technical information for Profiles, Process Instructions, and other technical literature.
• Conducting technical training sessions. Providing technical support for manufacturing.
• Supporting for aerospace and non-destructive testing (NDT) related products.
• Working with Chemetall/BASF’s Equipment Engineering group as required to better understand dispensing and control equipment.
• Attending industry seminars and in-house seminars.
• Searching and evaluating new patents.
• Ensuring work area is maintained in a safe manner. Maintaining laboratory equipment in peak operating condition in accordance with Chemetall/BASF Quality system.
• Ensuring that all activities and functions follow Chemetall/BASF Quality Systems and Procedures.
