RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused Resource Paraeducator to support students in grades 3rd-5th receiving specialized instruction and intervention services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special education teachers, classroom teachers, and related service providers to help students achieve academic, behavioral, social, and functional success in an inclusive learning environment.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Assistant Principal and Classroom Teachers
SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $16.56/hour (depending on experience) on Classified Hourly Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 165 days
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Resource Paraeducator supports the educational program for students receiving special education and intervention services in grades 3rd-5th. Working under the direction of licensed teachers and related service providers, the Resource Paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, and organizational support to help students achieve academic, social, emotional, and functional success while promoting independence and inclusion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support
- Assist students individually and in small groups with academic instruction and intervention.
- Reinforce reading, writing, mathematics, and other academic skills as directed.
- Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assist students with accommodations and modifications identified in their educational plans.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate instructional support.
- Support executive functioning, organization, study skills, and task completion.
- Monitor student understanding and provide feedback to certified staff.
Behavioral Support
- Implement positive behavior interventions and support plans.
- Promote appropriate social interactions and positive decision-making.
- Assist students in developing self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Respond appropriately to student behaviors using district-approved practices.
Classroom Support
- Prepare instructional materials and learning activities.
- Assist teachers with classroom organization and daily routines.
- Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, field trips, and other assigned activities.
- Assist with classroom technology and instructional resources.
- Help maintain an organized, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development as assigned.
- Communicate student observations and concerns to supervising staff.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and families.
Documentation
- Collect and record student progress data as directed.
- Maintain accurate documentation required for instructional programs.
- Protect confidential student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or supervising teacher that support the educational program.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policies.
- Participate in required district trainings and professional development.
- Follow district policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
