Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business, a technical field or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years related experience is required.Clearance Requirements:Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Sr Principal Configuration Management Associate to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with the government to develop solutions that allow them to carry out a variety of missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to deliver end-to-end solutions in mission systems integration, development, and operations support. Representative Duties and Tasks May Include:

  • Leads or actively participates in efforts to establish and collaborate across GDMS for the generation of Configuration/Data Management policies, instructions, templates and any other GDMS process documentation
  • Creates and collaborates with Program/Engineering Management Team regarding tailoring of GDMS Processes and other guiding CDM Practices for the project
  • Defines project CCB hierarchy, structures and thresholds ensuring criteria for each is identified in the project CDM Plan
  • Implements and maintains an Engineering Change Notice System, including product improvements, repairs, and new product development
  • Participates in GDMS tool incentives including investigation of new tools or tool changes, providing guidance for CDM requirements and processes
  • Advocate of CDM process and CDM tools and communicates this to CDM staff members
  • Defines the organization and project specific change process, including changes flowing from one board to another, form/fit/function, change classification and fast track/full track change criteria
  • Reviews issues within programs where compliance is an issue and ensures root cause analysis is performed, reviews the CDM solution
  • Attend and provide CDM Inputs at Program Meeting with Customer as required (weekly/monthly)
  • Coordinates the interaction between engineering, manufacturing, field operations, and program management to ensure appropriate changes are documented. Schedule, prepare and participate in Program Change Review Boards (CCB's) between required Quality,
  • PM, Engineering and Customer representative (If required)
  • Ensure Configuration Management Best Practices are implemented, documented and auditable in the approval of configuration items
  • Ensures the maintenance of product baselines
  • Provide auditability of all change artifacts as required for ISO, Internal or External Audits or program
  • Works across organizations to coordinate processes where possible
  • Participate or review non Configuration and Data Management policies, process, etc. to determine impacts to Configuration Management
  • Creates training materials for employees inside and outside of the department
  • Has the ability to train all functional areas on Configuration and Data Management processes
  • Provides direction and delegates work to lower level employees
  • Works as a lead to balance workload across team to meet critical program deadlines
  • Creates and approves program Configuration/Data Management Plans and contributes to the generating of program plans
  • Supports fully all tasks associated with both configuration and data management tasks
  • Support proposals by reviewing customer SOW and/or other proposal documentation that pertains to CDM to identify the full scope and effort to be bid
  • Interface with Co-workers within the department
  • Frequent contact with employees and management outside of the department

  • Strong understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards
  • Strong knowledge of industry practices
  • Understanding of Software Configuration Management builds practices<
