Job Description
This position requires expertise in history/social studies, with sufficient knowledge to support additional subject areas. A Content Specialist is responsible for the development of new assessment content, the continuous improvement of existing content, the creation of custom assessments, and professional development offerings. This position may also lead projects or participate in innovative projects or research.
As a Content Development Specialist, you will:
- Write or specify new content based on content priorities
- Review new content submitted by external and internal writers
- Contribute to department guidelines
- Provide guidance on the resolution of complex feedback reports and new item requests
- Analyze new standards in relation to existing standards and existing content
- Align existing content to new standards
- Audit content to detect and quantify pervasive issues
- Build custom assessments
- Interact with custom assessment districts
- Develop and/or deliver professional development
- Research issues related to their primary job function and area of expertise
- Lead small project teams��
- Mentor other team members
- Participate in innovation projects
Qualifications
For this role as a Content Development Specialist, you must have:
- 2-5 years of experience in education or related field
- Knowledge of history standards
- Ability to write for the needs of a specified audience
- Ability to research topics related to history/social studies
- Well-developed time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary
- Commitment to meeting deadlines and escalating issues that put deliverables at risk
- Work process that is detail-oriented while maintaining a grasp of the big picture
- Commitment to being a collaborative, team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Writing experience, or education background in American History
- Knowledge of editorial processes including but not limited to developmental editing
- Experience creating educational materials (assessment preferred) in a professional publishing setting
Additional Information

Salary Range: $46,400 - 53,000. This range is based on national market data and may vary by location.
