As a Lab Operations and Special Projects Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Supporting the Corporate Research Systems Laboratory’s (CRSL) operating committee and lab operations needs (managing logistics and cadences of NTI Project Reviews; support and/or lead initiatives to improve lab operations & R&D workflows)
Core member of the Corporate Research Lab’s (CRL) Lab Operations Management (LOM) team that supports the CRL Operating Committee. Includes meeting monthly with the CRL OC and managing CRL-Business group alignment meetings & events, review cadences and logistics for CRL Priority Program reviews, and co-managing resource-by-project tracking.
Leading special projects as assigned (up to 50% of time). The initial assignment will comprise co-leading a project focused on digital transformation of R&D workflows for a specific technology platform in order to enable NTI and NPI acceleration.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science (completed and verified prior to start)
Five (5) years of project management experience with demonstrated ability to lead complex projects in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Seven (7) years of project management and/or new product development experience with demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional, new product and/or technology development projects in a private, public, government or military environment, with clearly demonstrated ability to build and execute project plans
Masters degree or higher in data science, mechanical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science from an accredited institution
Desired skills include the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate up, down and across organizations, expertise in R&D, product development, and commercialization workflows and best practices (NPI, PLM, Regulatory, IP management), and broad understanding of “Digital R&D” (data science & engineering, computational sciences, data engineering and ML/AI), as well as, strong business acumen.
Work location: on site at least 4 days a week in Maplewood MN
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international
