Job Summary:The Registered Nurse, Surgical Specialties, will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. The registered nurse, urology effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.

Department/Unit Summary:The Surgical Specialties Unit (9 South) is a 22 bed general acute care inpatient adult unit. Our unit specializes in the care of the post-operative surgical patient. We are the designated unit for Urologic Surgery patients but we also care for many other types of surgery patients including oncology-endocrine surgery, emergency general surgery, plastics, head & neck surgery, and others. Our focus is to provide patient centered care and to meet the needs of a diverse patient population which requires our nurses to be familiar with a wide range of treatments and types of care. 9 South is also equipped with low acuity vital signs monitors that allow surveillance monitoring for the post-operative patient population – it has capability for continuous pulse-oximetry, capnography, and respiratory rate monitoring. Working on the Urology unit provides an opportunity to care for a wide variety of patient populations in a professional and committed work group. It is a great place for professional and personal growth in the field of nursing, while also allowing our staff to develop critical thinking, prioritization, and time management skills.Position Shift:- Full-time

- Nights (7pm-7am)
