About the role

CORE is seeking dedicated team members for its emergency response roster, focused on providing critical support during natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other crisis situations across the United States. This role involves conducting health and medical assessments, providing patient care, performing wellness checks, assisting with clinical referral services, and distributing essential items to affected communities.  Applicants should possess medical training and have experience in community engagement or emergency response. The ideal candidate is ready to be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that responds to emergencies by offering immediate aid and support to impacted individuals and communities.  Roster work is available on an as-needed basis (it is not full-time or continuous). As a Roster Member work is available on an as-needed basis and is not full-time or continuous. Roster members may be called upon to deploy based on the specific needs of emergency situations, with the understanding that deployment opportunities and lengths may vary. Candidates should be prepared for rapid deployment and demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to serve in various locations across country, and potentially the globe, as required.  Candidates for this position should be based in the United States but can expect to likely deploy globally.   Compensation will be determined at the time of deployment based on location and anticipated length of service needed. 

Responsibilities

  • Medical & Health Response Team Member will:
  • Deploy across the United States as part of a dynamic emergency response team, activated for natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other crisis situations requiring immediate health and medical intervention.
  • Conduct health assessments for individuals affected by emergencies within scopes of practice for certification/licensure level, including the measurement of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature) to determine necessary care.
  • Provide emergency care as needed, ensuring rapid and effective response to life-threatening conditions.
  • Collect or assist in the collection of specimens for tests such as urine, blood, and oral pharyngeal samples.
  • Document the health information, interventions, and conditions of individuals treated, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and respect for individual rights.
  • Conduct wellness checks on individuals in disaster-affected areas, ensuring their well-being and identifying any immediate health or safety concerns.
  • Analyze health data collected during deployments to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of response efforts, and inform future actions.
  • Engage in safeguarding practices at all times, ensuring the protection and dignity of those we serve, particularly the most vulnerable, from any form of harm or abuse.
  • Collaborate with local governments, community organizations, and other stakeholders as needed to coordinate the delivery of medical services and essential goods, ensuring that aid reaches those in need efficiently and effectively.
  • Adhere to CORE's Standards of Safety and Security, promoting a safe environment for both team members and the communities served.
  • Work closely with various CORE departments to ensure a cohesive response strategy that aligns with the organization's overall mission and optimizes the impact of our efforts.
  • Liaise with the CORE Procurement team to ensure the timely provision of necessary medical supplies and relief items for response operations.
  • Participate in the distribution of essential items and relief supplies to impacted communities, supporting their immediate needs and facilitating recovery. 

Scope and Travel

  • Reporting to: Team Leader
  • Called upon with short notice for deployments of 2-10 weeks as needed

Qualifications

  • Requirement of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification or higher 
  • Active National Registry - NREMT (EMS professionals only)
  • Active state (any) licensure (for nurse, physician assistant, or physician applicants)
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Driver’s License with no significant infractions in the last 5 years
  • No history of clinical certification or licensure censure, suspension, or revocation by any regulatory entity or accrediting body

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare working at your current scope of practice 2 years is probably enough if not lead

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken English and secondary language
  • Good communication
