About the role

Pharmacy Buyer- Beacon Hill, Washington

Schedule- Full Time/ Days

Responsible for ordering, stocking, and monitoring medications delivered at Madison for use in the specialty and primary care clinics.  Responsible for achieving industry standard, benchmarkable profitability for all chargeable pharmaceuticals. Responsible for drug utilization and reporting as well as budget reporting.  Will develop reports to ensure that drugs are appropriately ordered and billed.  Will work with the Director of Revenue Cycle to identify drugs and payors from which there is profitability and those that are not and develop action plans for resolution.  Works with the pharmacist to prepare information for provider education regarding drug utilization and profitability.  Works with Service Line Management to identify and implement strategies for improving payor mix and profitability and makes recommendations for changes in service lines as appropriate.  Maintains close working communication with pharmacists on duty and the Ancillary Director as well as the service line and clinic management.  Identifies and secures alternative sources of drugs for charity and discount payment patients.  Is responsible for providing technical services in accordance with department policy and Washington State Law.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of a formal one-year Pharmacy Technician Certificate program at a college or technical school
  • Coursework/Training: Participation in an on-site training program approved by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy (includes PMC).
  • Upon hire: Washington Pharmacy Technician License 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Coding certification 
  • Experience and formal training in coding. 
  • Community (retail) pharmacy experience.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
