Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to direct, coach, engage with and enable technical work groups to efficiently, accurately, and safely support the facility to ensure optimum workflow through the production cycle is maintained in accordance with customer service levels and business volume demands. Additionally, this position should strategically develop plans for needed Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) on equipment as well as identifying necessary project work to aid in the future performance of equipment and staff.

Job Description

  • Responsible for scheduling and following up on all work performed by the department on their respective shift.  Interact with the other shift Supervisors, along with the Production management team, to effectively coordinate the workflow on their shift
  • Coaches non-exempt, technically skilled employees on achieving daily performance requirements including their interactions within the team environment       
  • Administers policy and procedures within company guidelines.  Develops the team to adapt to new ways of performing work to include an understanding of the collective bargaining agreement, government regulations, OSHA and facility safety standards, and consistent application of company policy and procedures  
  • Supervise the operation of production equipment involved in daily workflow.  Utilize multiple warehouse systems to predict and direct workflow using Sagex and Mandate systems.  Utilize computer control mechanisms to redirect workflow within the warehouse.  Understand upstream and downstream impact of decisions to redirect workflow                                     
  • Facilitates the setting of objectives and strategies along with daily tactical planning and workforce requirements
  • Develops performance metrics for work groups and identifies inputs and outputs required for improved performance results                                                      
  • Schedule work for the daily activities of the work groups to maximize available resources
  • Maintain various records for each employee for the tracking of available attendance hours, vacation requests and approvals, regulatory audits, Earned Hour for perfect attendance, overtime validation, disciplinary actions as well as various other necessary confidential associate records
  • Establish and implement / manage Preventative Maintenance programs and scheduling
  • Support, educate on, uphold and hold accountability for the facility safety protocols & policies

Requirements

  • Demonstrates effective verbal, non-verbal, written and listening skills with the ability to provide effective feedback both upstream and downstream
  • Ability to resolve conflicts by creating a win-win situation
  • Ability to foster the learning and development of employees along with leading the department toward its overall objectives and goals
  • Develop a positive working environment by promoting open and honest communication and through building trust among department associates and peers
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to observe, analyze and positively influence an action or result
  • PC skills including MS Outlook, and other products of the MS Office platform including: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access 97 (or higher version) and Teams
  • Experience in Maintenance Inventory & Working Software (E-Maintenance, Infor, etc)
  • Ability to execute tactically in support of strategic goals
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends totaling 40+ hours per week plus some mandatory OT
  • Proficient in communication skills needed to keep the team informed, motivated and engaged
  • High level of interpersonal skills to engage with and unify a team with diverse experiences and perspectives
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling controls and PLC systems
  • Expert in Facility safety knowledge and understanding with a proven record of injury avoidance and maintaining statistics at or below the industry BLS standards   
  • B.S.  in Industrial or Engineering studies and 2 years supervisory experience or 5 years of Maintenance experience with an additional 5 years of supervisory experience
