FAR DETECTOR PROJECT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION (Project Manager III)
A Far Detector Project Manager is sought to join Fermilab’s Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility/Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (LBNF/DUNE) team. The LBNF/DUNE-US Project is hosted by Fermilab in Batavia, IL, and includes participation from universities and laboratories from around the world. The project includes construction of a beamline and near detector at Fermilab and a large underground detector at the Sanford Laboratory in Lead, South Dakota.
The LBNF/DUNE-US project will design and construct one of the largest proposed neutrino experiments in the world over the next several years. LBNF provides conventional and technical facilities to support the international Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE).
Reporting to the Far Detector & Cryogenics (FDC) Project Manager, the Far Detector Project Manager (FD PM) works with the Far Detector Control Account Managers and the DUNE Technical Coordinators to coordinate and execute project management functions by setting project objectives, coordinating and monitoring project activities, leading the project staff, identifying documentation requirements or procedures, and implementing the project plan.
NOTE: The position is for a period of up to three (3) years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter, and subject to continued funding.
YOU WILL:
- Coordinate Far Detector procurements: working with control account managers, project controls, and procurement administrators to assure all procurements are properly represented in the resource-loaded schedule, assure packages are of expected quality, track/ expedite as required up through subcontract award all procurement actions including coordinating with supporting teams such as legal and property.
- Support the various subproject review processes: working with team members, including Technical Coordinators, Control Account Managers and other SMEs to ensure that design, procurement readiness, production readiness, and operational readiness review processes are followed in accordance with the appropriate procedures and guidelines. May include arranging for external reviewers, providing input to agendas, managing review process, and tracking review recommendation progress.
- Facilitate far detector change control planning: work with project controls and Far Detector control account managers, before requests are presented to the LBNF/DUNE Change Control Board, assuring complete documentation and proper use of project and FRA procedures.
- Assist with monthly reports and Integrated Subproject Team meetings: collect input from Far Detector control account managers to ensure timely reporting of progress, issues. Prepare slides and written reports for meetings and other stakeholder distributions.
- Participate in, and lead as requested, project meetings such as various project management meetings and periodic meetings with the full FDC subproject team.
- Develop, modify, or provide input to project plans as appropriate, such as Design Reports, Project Management Plan, Hazard Analyses and Safety Analysis Reports, Quality Assurance Plan, Construction Project Safety and Health Plan.
- Assist with development of cost and schedule estimates, monitor and manage obligations and costs to budgets, as well as analyzing schedules.
- May participate in negotiations to obtain and maintain resources with laboratory and collaboration with management.
- Assist with writing agreements with the various institutions and international partners performing work for the project.
