Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Coding Manager for our Health Information Management department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Coding Manager, you will:
• Manage and supervise the coding team, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and appropriate coding.
• Monitor coding productivity and quality, implementing process improvements as necessary.
• Monitor and stay current with evolving coding regulations, guidelines, and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy. Ensure timely communication of changes to relevant stakeholders.
• Proactively identify, investigate, report, and address compliance risks related to coding practices in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Lead routine and targeted coding audits to assess accuracy, ensure regulatory compliance, and uncover opportunities for process improvement.
• Maintain awareness of coding and technology changes to improve efficiency, optimize workflows, and elevate overall coding performance.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new coding professionals, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and culture. • Manages each new coder's progression and competency against the onboarding program timeline.
• Champion coder education efforts by facilitating training initiatives, including post-audit reviews, onboarding for new and transitioning coders, and proficiency in electronic coding platforms.
• Collaborates with other departments and leaders on issues related to CDM, Revenue Integrity, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Patient Accounting.
• Support the development, review, and continuous improvement of policies and procedures governing coding operations to ensure consistency, compliance, and best practices.
• Foster ongoing collaboration and engagement with physicians, organizational leadership, and team members to maintain accurate coding practices and uphold regulatory compliance.
Qualifications include:
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on medical coding experience, including at least two (2) years in a leadership, supervisory, or management capacity.
• Demonstrated expertise in industry-standard coding systems and guidelines, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Demonstrated proficiency in industry-leading coding software and health information management systems, preferably with 3M (Solventum)
• Advanced analytical abilities with a proven track record in identifying coding discrepancies and implementing effective solutions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering productive collaboration across clinical, administrative, and technical teams.
• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Information Management or related field.
• A minimum of five (7) years of coding, including hospital inpatient medical records, with at least two (3) years in a supervisory or coordination role overseeing coding operations.
• AHIMA and/or AAPC's credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CPC)

Pay Range:
$96,058.56 - $145,995.20If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
