Purpose

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a Full-Time Laboratory Coordinator position for the Rosenbaum Center for Behavioral Business Studies (RCBS). The position involves managing the lab’s resources across multiple disciplines in the business school. The lab coordinator will work closely with the McCombs Behavioral Lab Committee, faculty members, PhD students, and a group of undergraduate research assistants to run behavioral studies using participants from multiple participant pools. The experience gained in this position can prepare one to successfully apply to a PhD program. Previous Lab Coordinators have moved on to doctoral programs in psychology, management, and marketing.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with faculty members and Ph.D. students to coordinate and mentor undergraduate research assistants for supporting data-related assignments.

Conduct behavioral experiments (in individual, dyadic, and small group contexts) in the lab and remote settings.

  • Manage lab study reservations and respondent allocation to faculty members
  • Pretest study procedures to ensure quality control and time allocation
  • Prepare lab facilities prior to data collection
  • Conduct behavioral studies and experiments involving an EEG headset, eye tracking, and other physiological sensors
  • Facilitate data collection with specialized samples

Use the SONA System to coordinate multiple participant pools.

  • Manage department subject pools
  • Oversee recruitment and coordination of university student/staff paid participant pool 
  • Distribute instructions and updates regarding participation pools to participants and faculty

Assist with applications to Institutional Review Board.

Interface with Technology Solutions staff regarding lab computer set-up and equipment.

Occasional travel to off-campus locations (occasional).

Required Qualifications

Three years of experience coordinating or working in a behavioral research lab. Previous experience and basic competence with Qualtrics andh Sona Systems. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, marketing, management, organizational behavior or a related field.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate including previous work experience or volunteer experience in a lab setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology, marketing, management, organizational behavior or a related field.

Experience with the following software:

  • Media Lab
  • FaceReader, Cognionics (CGX) and other physiological measurement.
  • Eye-tracking programs Tobii, Aurora, Gazepoint, and/or EyeTech
  • SPSS, SAS, or R
  • JavaScript and HTML
  • Lioness, SMARTRIQ, ChatPlat, and/or ZTree

Salary Range

$49,500 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • This is an Austin, TX-based position and will be fully on-site during academic semesters (Spring, Summer, and Fall).

  • May work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

  • Regular weekday hours required. M-F work hours will flex accordingly and may require evening or weekend availability for spec
