American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) has a stated ambition to become the leading payments and working capital provider for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers. This includes ensuring each customer has access to business-sized purchase capacity, flexible payment options, meaningful rewards and the powerful backing of American Express.

 

The Commercial Lending product team supports this objective by developing compelling products, services and customer engagement strategies to meet business owners’ funding needs. As part of this organization, the Business Line of Credit (BLOC) team has achieved tremendous growth since the product’s inception and is poised to continue in the next 3 years. The Business Line of Credit is a key component of American Express’s ongoing efforts to innovate beyond the Card.

 

The BLOC Product Manager will keep a customer-first mentality by leading customer insights, competitive analysis, and supporting Sales and Servicing engagement. Key internal partners include Marketing, Analytics, Sales, Servicing, Pricing, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Technology.

 

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee the creation of thorough market research and competitive positioning to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the space
  • Develop a robust, ongoing analysis of customer behaviors and sentiments, effectively socializing key insights in both verbal and written communications
  • Serve as a supportive partner to Sales and Servicing colleagues, developing scalable engagement strategies and driving key enablement initiatives
  • Collaborate with partner teams to ensure compelling and cohesive product messaging, effective go-to-market strategies, and successful product and feature launches
  • Deepen relationships and collaboration with key internal partner teams
  • Ensure a strong control and compliance environment

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong customer-first mentality and experience putting customer insights into action
  • Strategic, creative thinker with strong analytical skills and ability to use insights to drive winning strategies
  • Track record of influencing cross-functionally toward shared outcomes and operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent project management skills while balancing multiple business partners and workstreams in parallel
  • Thoughtful, concise communicator and proven ability to communicate effectively to audiences at various levels
  • Good judgement and interpretation of compliance landscape
  • Bachelor’s degree
