Why we need an HR Manager
To date, People Operations has taken a scrappy approach, standing up as much infrastructure as we could to keep pace with rapid headcount growth. We’ve entered a new phase on the team as we shift from building systems from scratch to continuous improvement and prioritizing experiences.
The People Operations team manages a wide range of HR and People Operations workflows, in addition to compliance, benefits, and employee support. We have several objectives to deliver that contribute to our growing and evolving organization, and we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced human resources professional who is ready to apply their skills in a mission-driven environment.
What will the HR Manager do
The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in the team and organization to ensure smooth and compliant operations. They will perform work requiring regular access to highly sensitive and confidential information such as labor policy formulation and personal employee data (e.g., birth date, social security numbers, etc.).
Primary tasks can include:
- Manage:
- Employee onboarding and offboarding
- Leave and benefits plans
- PEO and Performance Management systems
- Track and triage grievances and complaints
- Complete employee changes and maintain employee records
- Ensure practices and policies are compliant with the employee handbook and collective bargaining agreement.
- Analyze new hire and exit interviews, report successes, trends, concerns, etc.
- Create compelling job descriptions and ensure they are maintained and compliant.
- Develop departmental SOPs
- Facilitate performance reviews, engagement surveys, and similar tasks and corresponding systems.
- Maintain knowledge of and report on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Identify and report on trends and recommend best practices
- Contribute to the development and execution of the team goals and objectives.
Support tasks can include:
- Assist with employee coaching, disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations in partnership with team and organizational leadership.
- Help design learning and development programs and oversee related initiatives.
- Support change management for processes, policies, programs, etc.
- May recruit and onboard employees from time to time as backup or volume support.
- Complete and support other tasks that fall within the HR and People Ops purview.
Supervisor tasks can include:
- This position currently does not have supervisor responsibilities but could in the future.
