Job Description

As Senior Scientist I, within AbbVie Drug Delivery Sciences, you will work as a key part of a talented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional team to build cutting-edge capabilities for the delivery of biologics and advance new products through early R&D.  The ideal candidate must have experience working with different chemical modalities, with a solid foundation is organic and polymer chemistry, have outstanding oral and written communication skills, and have the desire and capacity to grow as part of a dynamic, high performing team.

Responsibilities

• Independently plans, designs, coordinates, and executes formulation synthesis and analytical characterization in alignment with project goals.
• Lead the design, characterization and testing the performance of new sustained release formulations for biologics and small molecules.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with key stakeholders.
• Represents function within cross-functional teams and may lead cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Contribute to AbbVie's patent estate.
• Authors manuscripts for internal and external publication and presentations.
• Responsible for compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Abilities

• A thorough knowledge of organic chemistry, bioconjugation and polymer chemistry
• Hands-on experience in conjugation and characterization of macromolecules such as proteins, polymer and hydrogel-based systems.
• Excellent scientific approach and strong problem-solving skills.
• A solid track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentation
