About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Women & Children's Health Unit, the Secretary is responsible for a wide variety of secretarial duties and functions within the Women & Children's Health Unit, including, but not limited to, reception and telephone, computer applications, typing and transcription, management/staff/program support, client and community contacts, documentation and records management, research support, program administration and general office duties.
The Secretary exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Health Services Program and the Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions of Nova Scotia Health and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of Nova Scotia Health.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade 12 plus graduate of a recognized office administration/business/secretarial program and/or a combination of education, training and progressively responsible experience required
- One (1) year of related secretarial experience
- Medical Terminology course required
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Meditech, and Community-Wide Scheduling, with the ability to acquire additional skills (SAP; database) required
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently as well as demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent, Full-time position; 70 hours bi-weekly
- Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends & holidays
Compensation and Benefits
$23.07 - $25.54 hourly
