School Summary
California Online Public Schools is a network of tuition-free public online schools for students in grades TK–12. The network of schools is operated by the nonprofit California Online Public Schools and currently includes six schools serving students in 32 counties in California. California Online Public Schools are accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
NOTE: This is a full-time position.
Working from your home office, floating teachers will manage instructional programs virtually and serve in a substitute teacher capacity, covering employee leave of absences on demand.
As full-time employees, our floating teachers provide behavioral and academic support for students in academic subjects as requested by teachers going on leave and at the guidance of instructional leadership staff. Through use of the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes their instructional program. Eligible candidates must meet California Teacher Certification requirements for secondary education, holding a single-subject teaching credential. Preferred strengths in Math, Science, Special Education, and Career Technical Education courses.
The Floating Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
- Complete grading in a timely manner to communicate student progress to students and parents.
- Communicate frequently with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects.
- Support students and parents through weekly synchronous contacts to provide strategies for success in a virtual environment and assistance with assignments and projects as needed.
- Support the instructional program with synchronous and asynchronous lessons, recordings, and instructional materials.
- Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding and engagement (working directly with students and parents).
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to review data and develop instructional strategies.
- Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication.
- Highly qualified and certified in the state of California.
- Strong technology skills (especially in Microsoft OS and MS Office Programs)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work well in a fast paced, continually evolving environment.
- Team player track record; ability to collaborate and work with various teams.
- Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel on occasion for in-person events.
- Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.
(Permission to live outside of California must come from the Superintendent of California Connections Academy schools for individuals living outside of California)

This position ranges from $61,743.50 - $86,658.06 based on relevant education and experience.
