About this role

The Senior Principal, Assurance Business Analytics will partner closely with Assurance practice leadership to develop creative approaches that solve complex operational problems and inform prioritization of strategic continuous improvement efforts.  This position will be charged with discovering, improving, mapping, analyzing and visualizing data to deliver unique insights into operational execution, resource planning and customer usage to accelerate business performance. Role reports to Distinguished Vice President, Assurance Quantitative Research and Data Science.

Responsibilities

  • Identify accessible data sets and models we can use to better understand content, client interaction and operational performance, and potential improvement opportunities
    • Spot data-related challenges and work constructively to resolve them
  • Cultivate strong relationships across the firm (e.g. with central functions and other practices) to unlock valuable sources of data and drive improvements in collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Build and execute analysis plans that yield unique insights into tangible operational improvements we can make to have real commercial impact
    • Source, generate and prioritize high-value hypotheses to test
  • As appropriate, create and reliably deliver easy-to-consume leadership communications (e.g. slides, reporting tools and dashboards) that catalyze action on the most important operational improvements; leverage centrally built tools where applicable.
  • Work with practice leaders to identify and resolve barriers if metrics are outside desired ranges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • 4-8 years of progressive business experience, preferably in an analytics-related role where wrangling data, owning analysis and findings discovery, and driving leadership-level conversations was core to the role (e.g., in consulting, business intelligence or financial analytics)
  • Experience developing strategic priorities and related execution/metrics regimes, including:
    • Working with leaders to identify what is most important – strategic priorities.
    • Designing the best ways to execute on the strategic priorities
    • Developing data and analysis to track execution and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical thought processes – the ability to break down a complex, ambiguous problem into solvable components, and then finding the fact base to prove/disprove hypotheses about root causes of those components.
  • Quantitative and statistical analysis skills – familiarity with data interpretation and descriptive analysis required for tasks such as extracting key insights from large data sets or segmenting customers or behaviors into distinct groups which can be targeted for improvement (more technical analyses such as regression, factor, or cluster analysis are preferred but not required).
  • Experience managing multiple projects; demonstrated ability to own, manage and complete projects. Excellent organization skills. Time management and task flexibility--ability to multitask and change priorities as needed.
  • Written, visual, and verbal communications – ability summarize complex data sets into elegantly simple summaries which focus attention on the most important causes of a challenge. Strength in typical delivery modes required: Excel (details), PPT (summary), and verbal presentation to senior and varied audiences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships up, down, and across the organization, via influence without formal management authority.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Gartner Research and Advisory data resources (ElasticSearch, PowerBI Reporting, PowerBI Desktop/custom report creation, BAW) preferred.
