The Sr. Manager, Indirect Tax is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the US indirect tax operations at Cepheid, including sales & use tax, property tax, and unclaimed property compliance. This will be a critical role reporting to Senior Director of Tax and will not only manage the day-to-day operations but also champion strategic action plans to transform current processes. The position will act as a business partner to cross functional teams, supporting business initiatives while ensuring tax compliance and risk mitigation.
This position is part of the Tax Department and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA with a Hybrid work schedule. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead all aspects of US indirect tax, including sales & use tax, property tax, unclaimed property and other miscellaneous obligations to ensure tax and reporting compliance; manage outside service providers and contractors as applicable
Act as a business partner to cross functional teams in end-to-end supply chain to advise and support relevant finance and business operations while managing indirect tax consequences
Lead development and implementation of process improvements and other strategic actions to support scaling of business operations and risk mitigations, leveraging technological solutions to transform current processes where appropriate
Manage audits and state & local indirect tax incentives
Lead special projects as required
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 8+ years of related work experience in a corporate tax, accounting, or finance department, with minimum 4 years of experience in corporate indirect tax operations OR Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of work experience.
Prior experience in successfully leading and managing cross-functional projects including planning and driving multiple workstreams with competing deadlines
Prior experience in recommending and leading technological solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy including successful design and execution of data analytics
Prior experience in successfully managing indirect tax audits with minimal tax assessment.
Proficient in Excel with demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technological tools quickly
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experience in healthcare and manufacturing industry
SAP, Vertex, Alteryx, Power BI
