A Day in the Life

The Senior Program Manager, Global Trade Operations (GTO) – Information Management is responsible for leading medium-scale, cross-functional programs to implement and maintain Medtronic’s global Information Management program. This role ensures the development of standardized, sustainable processes for proactively identifying items requiring trade determinations and collecting the associated product and manufacturing information needed to perform trade processes such as Country of Origin Determination, HS Classification, Export Control Classification, and Free Trade Agreement Eligibility Analysis.

The Senior Program Manager serves as the primary liaison between the various trade functions, Operating Units, and enterprise-level initiatives, ensuring collaboration across teams and alignment with organizational objectives. By engaging and influencing leaders and stakeholders at all levels, this position drives the successful execution of strategic programs and initiatives, balancing competing priorities to meet program goals.

This role also focuses on continuous improvement and automation, defining and implementing a continuous improvement program for the GTO Shared Services organization to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an automation strategy and roadmap aligned with GTO strategic imperatives. This includes identifying opportunities to leverage automation technologies, streamlining workflows, and integrating innovative solutions to optimize trade processes.

This position requires expertise in program management and the ability to solve complex and undefined challenges in a global, matrixed organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving process innovation, implementing automation solutions, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

In collaboration across Enterprise, Regions and Operating Units, lead processes for optimal efficiency, effectiveness and quality:

Operating Unit Process Integration

  • Lead medium-scale programs and projects to define and implement new process/procedures in the Operating Unit for submission of product and manufacturing information needed for trade processes, ensuring alignment with corporate-level procedures.

  • Act as the primary Trade contact for enterprise projects (e.g., Product DNA, Labeling) impacting product information availability, making tactical decisions to address unforeseen challenges.

  • Develop and manage workflows (and supporting system requirements) to ensure proactive and efficient handling of trade processes, including integration of automation technologies.

  • Define and monitor performance KPIs to ensure accurate and timely submissions of product and manufacturing information.

  • Ensure supporting technology/systems account for trade requirements to support process decisions (e.g., Product DNA, PLM systems, CMAP, ServiceNow)

Continuous Improvement & Automation

  • Define, design, and implement a continuous improvement program for the GTO Shared Services organization, ensuring vertical and horizontal integration across GTO.

  • Develop and execute an automation strategy and roadmap to align with GTO strategic imperatives, addressing complex, undefined problems through innovative solutions.

  • Establish performance KPIs to measure success at the project and program levels, presenting outcomes to higher-level management.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Communication

  • Lead cross-functional meetings with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Influence across functions to align divergent objectives, ensuring collaboration between Global Trade Operations, Region Trade Operations, and Operating Units.

  • Serve as Business Relationship Manager, ensuring efficient collaboration across teams to meet requirements and drive strategic initiatives. In collaboration across Enterprise, Regions and Operating Units, lead processes for optimal efficiency, effectiveness and quality

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
