Minimum Biweekly Rate of Pay: $2,153.36 Bi-Weekly. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher).
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Supervise, direct, monitor and motivate employees to maintain and enhance established responsibilities.
Plan and coordinate workload, deadlines and schedules.
Coordinate and provide training. Monitor and ensure compliance with state regulations, employee handbook, facility operating procedures, circuit procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and policies.
Complete and review all required incident reports and other required written documentation.
Evaluate employee’s work performance by establishing criteria and meeting regularly with employees to ensure pre-established criteria are met.
Conduct investigations, collect the incident reports, witness statements, review data and recommend disciplinary/counseling actions.
In the absence of the Detention Superintendent, ensure that the facility operates effectively, and various administrative paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate knowledge of fire evaluation procedures to ensure compliance and proper evaluation.
Provide current address and telephone numbers on employees within 72 hours of change.
Immediately notify the Detention Superintendent of any arrests or any allegations of abuse or neglect investigations.
Conduct daily review of new admissions to secure detention, home detention/non-secure detention to identify youth appropriately or illegally detained.
Advocate for youth in instances where it is apparent that youth should be released from detention program or placed in less restrictive form of detention, pending appearance in court.
Appear in court when necessary on behalf of youth detained and not detained. Serve as chairperson of the weekly detention review committee.
Identification of cases requiring immediate attention; follow up and update detention log based on unit reporting. Problem solving whenever appropriate.
Interpret and monitor administrative and programmatic policies to ensure compliance with established procedures in the employee handbook, facility operating procedures and all applicable policies and procedures.
Complete and submit administrative and programmatic reports within established time frames including, but not limited to, incident report, corrective action plans, work related injuries, fiscal and personnel.
Conduct regular and special conferences with employees to provide guidance and technical assistance in the performance of their assigned duties.
Secure estimates from vendors related to repairs and replacement of equipment.
Maintain general supply inventories for ordering supplies for the facility.
Assist in maintaining facility security and providing technical assistance to subordinate employees.
Attend minimum of 40 hours supervisory approved training each review period and other training as assigned and/or required.
Maintain liaison with judicial, law enforcement, school officials, civic groups and social agencies, which provide services to delinquent youth.
Performs other related duties as needed.
